FAQ
a list of frequently asked questions
What will you add next?
Currently the plan is to add all common heraldic beasts at least in one of their common poses which are: Eagle, Lion, Leopard, Phoenix and Horse. Addionally there will be tweaks and eventually replacements of some of the element currently available in the editor as they do not fit the style and quality requirements I strive for. As I try to do that in my scarce freetine, this may take awhile.
Can I make content requests? Are you open to suggestions/ideas?
Yes, I am! I welcome any user feedback as long as you do not expect any miracles that I will get on it immediately and that I might have slightly different plans and priorities. But the more input the merrier. Currently I would appreciate it if you would post such ideas/brainstorming/suggestions at my
Deviant Art account. I might set up some other gimmicks for this site - including an idea box - later.
What Output format is this and Why not xyz?
For the export and storage I currently use PNG image files. The main reason being that this file format allows a true alpha channel opposed to GIF files and thus the edges along the shield are smoother with no gritty effect. I deemed this better for postprocessing if someone wants to merge the generated shield
in some artwork of his own (e.g. some decent background or something). Sadly only the newer Browsers can really deal with the transparency in PNG images, older ones will show ugly background colors. I'll probably change the lists to Gif format for that very reason...
